ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT undergoes first AUN-QA Program Assessment

Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT) has recently completed its first ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Program Assessment. This milestone evaluation focused on four key programs within the College of Arts and Social Sciences: Bachelor of Arts in Filipino, English Language Studies, Sociology, and Political Science.

The assessment process, carried out by a team of AUN-QA lead assessors and assessors, involved a thorough review of each program’s curriculum, faculty qualifications, learning outcomes, student support services, infrastructure and facilities, and stakeholder engagement practices.

Preliminary findings were presented individually by each program’s assessors, and a consolidated summary was delivered by the Chief Assessor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheunsuang. The feedback highlighted significant strengths in program design and delivery, as well as areas identified for improvement to enhance academic quality and student experience. The final results of the assessment are expected to be released in two months.

The AUN-QA Program Assessment marks a significant milestone in ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT’s ongoing pursuit of academic excellence and quality enhancement in higher education. The evaluated programs each embody the university’s commitment to nurturing critical values and competencies that are essential in today’s fast-evolving society.

The programs assessed reflect diverse and vital disciplines:

  • The Bachelor of Arts in Filipino develops language proficiency and creative scholarship, supporting cultural identity and interdisciplinary research.
  • The Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies integrates theoretical and practical approaches to language use, emphasizing cross-cultural communication and global perspectives.
  • The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology equips students with analytical tools to understand social behavior and to contribute meaningfully through research and community involvement.
  • The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science focuses on political systems, governance, and public policy, preparing students for leadership roles responsive to local and international dynamics.

Looking ahead, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT will undergo a second round of AUN-QA assessment in January, and this time focusing on the remaining programs from the College of Arts and Social Sciences—namely History, Philosophy and Humanities, and Psychology—as well as one program from the College of Education. This continuing process highlights ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT’s comprehensive commitment to maintaining and enhancing quality across its academic offerings.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT’s acceptance as an Associate Member of AUN-QA in 2024 underscores the university’s strategic commitment to harmonizing quality assurance standards in the ASEAN region.

Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan expressed confidence that the lessons drawn from this assessment will foster continuous institutional improvement and elevate the university’s academic profile regionally and globally.

This quality assurance initiative reaffirms ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳-IIT’s mission to provide responsive, inclusive, and globally competitive education based on academic rigor, stakeholder engagement, and a culture of continuous excellence.
